Associate Product Manager (Chicago/Remote)

About Us:

AwardSpring is an established and fast-growing Software as a Service (SaaS) start-up that partners with colleges and foundations to help them award scholarships and grants. We focus on making a few things as easy as possible:

  • Students applying for and receiving scholarships
  • Administrators and financial aid teams to find the best candidates
  • Raising more funds for future awards

Our Values:

  • Bias for Action: We are a small team that is in full growth mode. We all wear a lot of hats (figuratively) and we have a deep appreciation for showing ownership and accountability to our peers and customers (literally).
  • Find A Way: We have found that there is not always an easy answer to every question or issue that arises. Yet, we strive to be creative and find a way to simplify things every day. Together, we find a way to remove every roadblock.
  • Be Human: After all, we are all people (robots—please do not apply). We like to have a human voice and show empathy and friendliness to everyone we interact with.
  • Keep Improving: We accept that we are not perfect, but we strive to get a little bit better every day. Hopefully you do too.

Role:

Our team is small, you will have considerable impact on the direction of product development and our ongoing roadmap. You’ll help deliver important new features for our scholarship management platform and lead an exciting project to add a major new product.

You will translate high-level product ideas into detailed requirements for the software development and QA teams. This will include working with our product manager, team, and customers to identify solutions for customer challenges. You must have a focus on ensuring the software is easy to understand and operate.

You’ll write detailed requirement documents, create mockups, and designs to bring ideas to life. You’ll consider the underlying technical infrastructure and product accessibility as cornerstones for anything we build. Ideally, you have significant design/UX experience, but not required.

You’ll participate in and help run stand ups and sprint planning meetings.

You’ll work closely with our support team to answer product questions and identify bugs in our production environments.

We’ll respect your time; we manage our own timelines with a focus on proper work/life balance for our team.

  • Run Stand Up and Sprint Planning, ensure development and QA teams understand requirements
  • Manage product backlog
